Employer Sponsored Visas

Your Skills Deserve
a Real Sponsor

The 482 visa requires an employer. Most agencies sell you a job list and hope for the best. We give you direct access to a verified employer network where every position is confirmed before it reaches you — and we stay with you to the 186 PR finish line.

Eligibility Check

Is This The Right Path For You?

The 482/186 pathway suits some situations and not others. Here's a direct assessment — no jargon.

This pathway suits you if…

  • You have at least 1 year of paid, full-time work experience in a skilled occupation
  • Your occupation is on the MLTSSL or STSOL — ICT and Marketing roles typically qualify
  • You are working towards or already want Permanent Residency
  • You do not yet have employer sponsorship but want to find it
  • You are willing to commit to working with a single employer for at least 2 years for the 186 TRT pathway

This may not suit you if…

  • You have less than 1 year of relevant work experience — in that case, our Career Launch Program is the right first step
  • Your occupation is not currently on an eligible skilled occupation list
  • You have had a previous visa refused and haven't yet received legal advice about its impact
  • You need a solution in under 3 months — consider our Emergency Solutions instead

Not sure? Book a free assessment — we'll tell you honestly which pathway fits.

Your Options

Three Routes. One Goal.

The right visa depends on how much experience you have right now. Select your situation below.

Foundation Stage — Career Launch First

You're 1 Year Away From 482 Eligibility

You don't qualify for a 482 visa yet — and any agency that suggests otherwise is misleading you. The good news: one year of genuine, verifiable Australian work experience changes everything. That's exactly what our Career Launch Program is built to produce.

What you need

1 year paid full-time experienceIn an occupation on the MLTSSL or STSOL
Verifiable employment recordsPayslips, contract, reference letter — all documented
Employer willing to sponsorRedBridge connects you once experience is in place

RedBridge's approach

Enrol in Career LaunchGain 12 months of paid, structured work with our partner employers
Skills assessment (occupation-dependent)ACS (ICT) or AMI (Marketing) — not mandatory for all 482 occupations, but strongly recommended for 186 DE and Career Launch clients. Your consultant confirms if required.
Match to 482 sponsorWe transition you directly from Career Launch into employer sponsorship
12–18 months to 482 readiness Pathway: Career Launch → 482 → 186

Honest note: This is a longer path, but it's the right one. We would rather tell you this now and build your case properly than take your money for a visa you won't receive.

Subclass 482 — Temporary Skill Shortage Visa

Work in Australia With a Verified Employer Sponsor

You have the experience. What you need now is an employer who holds current 482 sponsorship approval and is genuinely looking to fill a role in your occupation. That's what our network provides — and it's verified before we introduce you.

482 Visa — Key Requirements

1 year relevant work experienceFull-time, in your nominated occupation
Occupation on the CSOLCore Skills Occupation List (replaced MLTSSL/STSOL from December 2024) — 456 eligible occupations
Salary meets TSMITTemporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold — reviewed annually by the government
English proficiencyIELTS, PTE, or TOEFL — minimum scores vary by occupation stream
Approved employer sponsorYour employer must hold current sponsorship approval from the Department
Skills assessment — occupation-specificMandatory for only 25 occupations under IMMI 18/039, primarily trade roles. Most ICT and Marketing occupations do not require mandatory skills assessment for the 482 visa. Your consultant confirms your specific situation at the free assessment.

What happens after 482?

186 Transition Stream (TRT)After 2 years with your 482 sponsor in an occupation on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), you can apply for Permanent Residency
Regional option — 494 visaIf your employer is regional, the 494 pathway leads to 191 PR after 3 years
Points-tested migrationSome clients transition to 189/190 if points-eligibility is established during employment
3 months – 1 year to visa grant Subclass 482 186 TRT PR after 2 years

Important: The SAF levy, nomination fees, and visa application charges are paid by your sponsoring employer — not you. RedBridge's fees cover placement and program support only.

Subclass 186 — Employer Nomination Scheme (Direct Entry)

Skip the Temporary Stage. Apply Directly for Permanent Residency.

With 3 or more years of relevant experience and a skills assessment, you may qualify to bypass the 482 stage entirely and lodge a 186 Direct Entry application — moving straight to Permanent Resident status if the nomination is approved.

186 Direct Entry — Key Requirements

3 years relevant work experienceIn your nominated occupation — well-documented and verifiable
Positive skills assessment — mandatory for 186 DEUnlike the 482 visa where assessment is occupation-specific, skills assessment is required for the 186 Direct Entry stream. ACS (ICT), AMI (Marketing), or relevant assessing body — this is separate from any 482 requirement.
Approved employer sponsorMust nominate you for a genuine full-time position at market salary
Under 45 years of ageAge requirement applies at the time of application lodgement
English proficiencyCompetent English required — vocational English in some circumstances

Why choose Direct Entry?

Permanent Residency from day oneNo temporary visa stage — you become a PR upon grant
Full work rightsNot tied to a single employer after grant — work anywhere in Australia
Immediate Medicare accessFull access to Australia's public health system from grant date
Pathway to citizenshipAfter 4 years as a PR (including 1 year as a citizen), you may apply for Australian citizenship
Permanent Residency on grant Subclass 186 DE 6 months – 1 year to grant

Note: Direct Entry requires a skills assessment, which can add 2–4 months to your overall timeline. We begin this process in parallel with employer matching to minimise delays.

Transparency

What RedBridge Does — And Doesn't

What we do

Verify every employer before presenting them to clients — sponsorship approval status, genuine vacancy, and salary against TSMIT confirmed by our team.

Give you an honest eligibility assessment at the free consultation — including telling you clearly if you don't yet qualify for a 482 application.

Work with a MARA registered legal partner in the same office. Insight Idea's Registered Migration Agent (MARN: 1467870) is based at the same Docklands address as RedBridge. Your consultant and your migration agent are down the corridor from each other — no handoffs, no communication gaps.

Structure fees across milestones so you pay as outcomes are delivered, not as a single upfront sum before work has begun.

Plan your 186 PR transition from the moment your 482 is granted — so you're not scrambling 18 months later.

What we don't do

We don't send unverified job lists and call it a placement service. Every employer introduction is personal and specific to your profile.

We don't guarantee visa outcomes. No agency legally can — and if one tells you otherwise, that is a red flag worth taking seriously.

We don't take your money if you don't qualify. If your free assessment reveals the pathway isn't achievable, we say so before any fees are discussed.

We don't fabricate work experience to boost your assessment score. Assessments built on false history fail — often with serious legal consequences for the applicant.

About the 407 Training Visa

  • The 407 is a structured workplace training visa — not a standard work visa. It allows supervised, occupation-specific training that counts toward your eventual 482 experience requirement
  • Your employer must hold or obtain 407 sponsor approval — different from 482 sponsorship, though many employers hold both
  • Maximum stay of 2 years. RedBridge and Insight Idea manage the 407 → 482 transition proactively so there is no gap in your work rights

What RedBridge handles

  • 407 employer sourcing — we identify employers who can provide genuine, compliant training in your occupation
  • Experience documentation — all training records structured to meet the 482 experience standard from day one
  • Seamless 407 → 482 transition managed by Insight Idea before expiry

Why this route is still viable

  • No relevant experience now does not mean no visa — it means a longer but fully achievable route if you start building experience strategically today
  • The Career Launch Program produces 12 months of genuine, paid, documented experience specifically designed to satisfy ACS and AMI assessment requirements
  • Many clients successfully complete this full track — from Career Launch to 186 PR — within 5 years of graduating

What RedBridge handles

  • Career Launch Program enrolment — structured project work with partner businesses generating genuine paid experience
  • Skills assessment preparation built in parallel during the program — no delay at the end
  • Direct 482 employer match at program completion — we don't hand you a list, we make the introduction

Understanding this track

  • As a secondary (dependant) applicant on your partner's 482, you hold full Australian work rights — you can work for any employer, in any occupation, without restriction
  • You cannot convert to the primary holder of your partner's 482 — but you can lodge your own independent 482 primary application once you have 1 year of relevant experience
  • Starting your skills assessment and employer search while still on the secondary 482 means your own primary visa can be lodged as soon as experience requirements are met — minimising time between visas

What RedBridge handles

  • Experience documentation review — confirming what work you've done on the secondary 482 qualifies toward your 1-year requirement
  • Skills assessment preparation run in parallel so there's no waiting period at the end
  • Employer matching for your own primary 482 — your independence from your partner's visa is the goal, and we plan for it from the start
Timeline depends on current secondary start date

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Plain answers to the questions we get asked most often about the 482 and 186 process.

You need at least 1 year of full-time work experience in an occupation closely related to your nominated position. The experience must be relevant, recent, and verifiable — payslips, employment contracts, and reference letters are standard documentation. Experience from overseas counts, provided it can be documented to the same standard.

Yes — if your occupation is on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), you can apply for the 186 Transition Stream after 2 years of working for your sponsoring employer. For 3+ years of experience, the 186 Direct Entry stream may allow you to skip the temporary visa stage entirely and apply for PR directly.

Your sponsoring employer is legally required to pay the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) levy and all nomination and sponsorship costs. Visa application charges (payable to the Department of Home Affairs) are typically paid by the employer as well, though this can be negotiated. RedBridge's program and placement fees are charged to the client and are separate from government fees.

TSMIT — the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold — is the minimum salary a 482 visa holder must earn. Your nominated salary must meet or exceed this threshold and must also be equivalent to the market salary rate for the same role in Australia. The TSMIT is reviewed annually by the Australian Government; your Insight Idea migration agent will confirm the current figure during your application.

Our employer network is strongest in ICT and Marketing, but we assess all occupations individually. If your occupation is on an eligible skilled list and we have employer connections in your field, we will tell you. If we don't have the right network for your occupation, we will tell you that too — at the free consultation, before any commitment.

The typical timeline from your first consultation to 482 visa grant is 3 months to 1 year. The range reflects three variables: Department of Home Affairs processing times (which change regularly), whether your employer already holds standard business sponsorship approval, and how quickly your documentation is gathered. Your consultant will give you a specific estimate based on current processing times during your free assessment.
